Anthony Russell Counseling offers comprehensive counseling to those suffering from the debilitating effects of alcohol and drug abuse. Fully licensed and certified, we specialize in the assessment and treatment of substance abuse and related disorders such as depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder. We incorporate a family systems approach with traditional substance abuse treatment techniques in order to more fully assess and address those factors maintaining the individual’s need for alcohol and /or drugs. Our experience has been that relationships and other environmental factors such as work and finances not only play a large role in addictive process but also greatly affect the recovery process. We have found that assessment of, and intervention in, unhealthy relational patterns is essential to promoting recovery.

The impact that the abuse has had on the individual’s family and friends also affects the recovery process. Our approach of involving family and friends whenever possible allows for wounds to heal, for trust to be rebuilt, and for relationships to mend. As family and friends recover from the effects that the abuse had on them, the individual recovers from the feelings of guilt and shame at having harmed others. Soon, the individual and their family and friends learn that the real culprit was the addition itself and that all were harmed by it. The resulting united front against the addiction greatly increases the individual’s chances for maintained recovery.
